"Hay-Made Scarecrows"

Films: Scarecrow (2002), Scarecrow Slayer (2003), Scarecrow Gone Wild (2004)

Alias: Lester Dwervick, Dave, Sam

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted home/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: People in horror really seem to hate scarecrows. There's just something to be said about a hastily-made facsimile of a man strung up to ward off intruders. But even then, one would be surprised that three times in a row, these beings became vessels for vengeance.

History: The three main scarecrows across this short franchise are all motivated by revenge. And most of the time, they died rather young. There's Lester Dwervick, a high school loser who got strangled by an abusive parent under a scarecrow he later possessed. Dave, who got shot trying to steal a scarecrow for a fraternity dare, and now possesses it to find his love and convert her. And Sam, who was strung up and left for dead on a scarecrow after an awry hazing ritual, and seeks to kill his tormenters. All three are relentless in their bloodlust, and will stop at nothing to achieve their retribution.

Notable Kills: Lester stabs a guy through the neck with a corncob, kills another with a frying pan, burns his old boss on a stove, rips a guy's heart out through his back, and decapitates another with a shovel. Dave manages to slice a guy in half and rip a person apart with his bare hands.

Final Fate: Lester is set on fire before seemingly possessing his love (and appearing to kill the people who were hearing his story), Dave gets blown up by a rocket launcher after killing his old scarecrow-turned friend, and Sam accidentally gives an old friend magic powers, which he is then electrocuted with before that guy impales himself on a cross.

Powers/Abilities: Nigh invulnerability, ninja-like agility, and occasionally, magical powers like electricity.

Weakness: Fire and heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-We can't deny that these scarecrows are absolutely hideous and violent. But then again, most of them have rather sad backstories, and there's something rather odd about seeing a man of straw and hatred bouncing all over the place doing backflips to attack people. Nothing says killer scarecrows like blood, scythes, and...gymnastics.

Trivia: -The first film was plagued by production problems, but none could compare to when the crew was faced with an ACTUAL horror movie scenario coming at them. Apparently, a drunken homeless lunatic dictated that the fields they were filming on were his Holy Fields, and that he would kill them all for setting foot on them. It took a rather vicious fight and lots of security to get things back on track.

-Yet another incident came when Lester's actor, Tim Young, fell into a diabetic coma unexpectedly. Thankfully, not only did the police come to assist, but they also shut up a bunch of rowdy trailer park locals.

Actually, yes. Remember the Dark Night of the Scarecrow?

When we learned of the Creeper, becoming a Scarecrow Slayer became the latest fad.

And this mini-franchise.
